If I told you we were going to a grocery store for lunch, odds are you’d be less than thrilled. But if I told you we were going to a Whole Foods Grocery Store, that would put an entirely different spin on it. And thanks to my friend Staci, that’s exactly where we dined, while we were in Chattanooga, TN. And in the end, we had a very healthy and tasty lunch at the Greenlife Grocery Store.
If you’ve never been to a Whole Foods Grocery Store, you need to understand that it’s half restaurant and half grocery store. Sure, a lot of grocery stores have a deli counter where you can get a decent sandwich, but Whole Foods goes way beyond that. And the Greenlife Grocery Store in Chattanooga has something for just about every (healthy) taste.
Sure, they can whip up a tasty sandwich or pannini, but you can also get sushi, salad, soup and just about every deli item you can imagine. From spinach and cheese tamales to mock crab cakes and black bean salad, there’s truly something for just bout every taste. And if you want to go all out, then you can even get a made-to-order pizza. Truly, the world is your oyster at the Greenlife Grocery Store!
Charles and I both decided to go for the combo salad bar and hot food buffet. Unlike the traditional buffet, this buffet is priced by the weight of your food, which I really like. The price is $6.99/pound and Charles and I both weighed in well under that, so we had a pretty healthy and economical lunch.
My salad plate included greens, tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers and a dab of pasta and tuna salad. Then on the hot food side I added some brown rice, cooked cabbage, corn and a small piece of chicken. Like I said, it was very tasty and filling. Truth be told, Charles had to finish my salad, as I just couldn’t eat any more. All in all, it was a great healthy lunch choice!
So add Whole Foods to your road trip restaurant choices. It’s a fun place to get a healthy lunch!
